[en] Tribute to the heritage of vernacular typography

This photo/typo/graphic blog launched in 2006 by Jack Usine presents a collection of handcrafted letters & typographical incongruities. These writings, signs, inscriptions are carefully collected, selected and classified to form a kind of herbarium of handmade typography. Urban as rural, small or monumental, each specimen is selected for its uniqueness, its formal beauty or its defects.

Jules Vernacular is a complementary project of SMeltery, Usine’s type foundry, which provides typefaces inspired by this heritage.
